Our chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

We are Bible Believing and Gospel Preaching. We are Presbyterian.

Our purpose in Martinsburg is to make disciples of Jesus Christ.  For some this process begins at birth.  For others this process begins when they first hear the gospel call out of the death of sin and into the life of faith.  Disciples live according to the truth of the gospel.  And so, First Church is dedicated to the truth of the gospel and its faithful transmission to others.

Briefly, we are Protestants which means that we live in the truth that we have been saved by Grace alone, through faith alone, by the work of Christ alone, for God’s glory alone, and that the Scriptures alone are the rule of our faith and life.

Importantly we are Reformed, which means that more than most Christians we are committed to the truth that God loves you personally, unconditionally, irresistible and unbreakably.

We believe that the Westminster Confession of Faith and its Catechisms are authentic and reliable expositions of what Scripture leads us to believe and do.

Finally, we are a member congregation of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals, which means that we have made an extra commitment to the inerrancy of Scripture and the work of Reformation in our day.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
